When your oncologist sends a biopsy sample it goes to pathology for analysis to determine if cancer cells are present. For more than 50 years, Peninsula Radiological Associates has provided quality medical imaging services. Their team of board certified and fellowship-trained radiologists have over 200 years of combined experience. As a team they deliver the most comprehensive range of medical diagnostic imaging and interventional radiological procedures available on the Virginia Peninsula. Medical Oncologists

With specialized training in diagnosing and treating cancer with chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormone therapy and other targeted therapies, your medical oncologist collaborates with members of the Riverside Cancer Care Network multidisciplinary team to individualize treatment specific to what is most effective for your cancer.

Radiation Oncologist

Your radiation oncologist at Riverside evaluates which radiation therapy is best to treat your specific cancer, collaborating with medical physicists and dosimetrists to model radiation to target your tumor with precision and protect your surrounding healthy tissue.

Surgical Oncologists

If surgery is necessary to remove cancerous tumors or surrounding tissue, you can count on your surgical oncologist with specialized training in procedures to remove and stage various types of cancer.

All pathologists are board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology and follow the College of American Pathologists (CAP) Protocols and Guidelines, providing the highest possible standards of pathology services.

Medical Physicists

Working alongside radiation oncologists and dosimetrists, medical physicists are specialists in the nature and properties of energy. They ensure complex radiation treatments are individualized for each patient and exact radiation is delivered as prescribed by the radiation oncologist. In addition, they are responsible for quality and safety checks on treatment planning equipment and treatment machines.

Dosimetrists

As an analytical member of your radiation care team, dosimetrists design individualized treatment specifications and dose calculations to safely administer radiation therapy as prescribed by your radiation oncologist.

Medical Oncology Nurses

With specialized oncology training, your medical oncology nurse has over 2,000 hours of adult oncology nursing experience and provides clinical and educational guidance throughout your cancer journey.
