About Aaron Gebreselassie Naji, MD

Aaron G. Naji, M.D. is a fellowship-trained oncologist specializing in the treatment of various cancers and plasma cell diseases. After serving in the United States Air Force, he earned a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of California and completed his medical doctorate program at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. Dr. Naji completed an internal medicine residency at the New York University School of Medicine and is fellowship trained in hematology and oncology from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

With special interests in the treatment of breast, prostate, lung and colorectal cancers, Dr. Naji appreciates that the clinical discipline of oncology and hematology offers him the ability to practice in a complex and dynamic field. He believes in focusing on the patient’s needs as a whole, not just the disease, and strives to create authentic connections. He was drawn to oncology to make a difference in people’s lives and feels very rewarded by the ability to build long-term, lasting relationship with his patients and their families.

Dr. Naji was born and raised in Ethiopia and came to the United States in 2001. Married with three children, Dr. Naji enjoys staying active, exploring the outdoors with his family and watching historical documentaries. He appreciates that the Hampton Roads area has so much to offer including easy access to nature, great weather and opportunities to explore the nation’s rich history.
