About Brian Joseph Billings, MD

Dr. Billings earned his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed residency and fellowship training in colon and rectal surgery at Mayo Medical School. Dr. Billings is board-certified by the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery and the American Board of Surgery.

Dr. Billings provides general surgery services including: minimally invasive (laparoscopic and robotic) surgery for colorectal cancer and benign conditions; treatment for fecal incontinence, anal fissures, hemorrhoids and fistulas; and surgical treatment of Crohn's disease, diverticulitis and ulcerative colitis.

With expert training and specialization, Dr. Billings is the only provider in Eastern Virginia to offer robotic colorectal surgery. Outside of the office, he takes advantage of the variety of landscapes in the area and enjoys camping, fishing and boating.

Dr. Billings was very good in explaining my care situation and his recommendations. He thoroughly answered all questions I had. -note: in retrospect, the very short time spent with Dr. Billings probably could have been an earlier telework appointment (and maybe resulting earlier surgery date) given that Dr. Billings' assessment and recommendation aligned with referring doctor's, i.e., no new information. -but it was good to meet him before the surgery.

Dr. Billings is a very thorough and knowledgeable Dr. He made sure all of my questions and concerns were addressed before the appointment was over. His explanations were so thorough that they answered questions I had before I could ask them. This reassured me because I could tell he was genuinely concerned and invested in my well being.
