Interventional Radiology

Diagnosis of certain conditions may require biopsies, performed by our interventional radiologists, using CT or ultrasound to guide collecting the tissue sample for examination by our fellowship-trained, board -certified pathologists.

Our interventional radiologists also perform ablations of tumors and abnormal tissue in the liver, kidney, lung and other locations. Utilizing CT, ultrasound or both, interventional radiologists guide electromagnetic waves to destroy cells without requiring surgery.

Non-invasive vascular imaging

Using advanced ultrasound technology and interpreted by experienced vascular specialists, our non-invasive vascular imaging provides accurate insight into circulatory health. These studies help identify stroke risk through carotid ultrasound, which can detect blockages in the carotid arteries. We also perform peripheral vascular testing, including ultrasound of the extremities, to evaluate blood flow and identify conditions such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

Protect your health through early detection

From breast cancer screening and lung nodule evaluation to coronary calcium scoring, these diagnostic services are designed to help identify risk earlier, so you can make informed decisions and take an active role in your health.

Receiving your mammogram at Riverside makes a difference

AI enhanced screening and personalized breast cancer risk assessment to support earlier detection.

As a commitment to innovation in breast cancer detection, Riverside Health has partnered with Transpara® BreastCare, a leading artificial intelligence (AI) system designed to help radiologists detect cancers in mammograms. The software serves as a second set of eyes for providers to identify patterns of cancerous breast tissue and aims to detect cancer early, when it may be easier to treat.
All of Riverside’s Diagnostic & Imaging Centers are accredited by the American College of Radiology, including three locations that are designated as Breast Centers of Excellence.

As part of your annual screening mammogram, you will be invited to take a complimentary breast cancer risk assessment. Empowered with this information, you’ll gain the knowledge to understand your risk, and if you learn you are at higher risk of developing breast cancer, than that of the general population, Riverside’s High Risk Breast Clinic shares with you ways to reduce your risk and detect breast cancer at an earlier stage, when it is easier to treat.

The vast majority of nodules are not cancerous, however some may be early signs of lung cancer, which is why expedited access to our expert pulmonologists is so important.

Did you know you can screen for lung cancer? If you are between the ages of 50-80 years old and have an extensive smoking history, lung cancer screening through a quick and painless low dose CT scan can be life-saving.
