About Magi Magdi Khalil, MD

Dr. Khalil earned both a medical degree and a doctorate in immunology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University in 2001. She completed an internal medicine residency in 2004 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, remaining there to complete fellowship training in hematology and oncology in 2007. Dr. Khalil is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in medical oncology and hematology.

Driven by a strong interest in the scientific progress of medical oncology and hematology, particularly relating to immunology, Dr. Khalil is grateful for the chance to bring new therapies to patients. This passion led her to pursue a combined M.D./Ph.D. program, and was further developed during her fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, where she helped initiate a solid tumor immunotherapy program. Prior to joining Riverside, Dr. Khalil developed a special expertise in thoracic oncology and melanoma disease management as an attending physician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.

Dr. Khalil believes her job is to educate, engage and empower patients regarding their illness so that they can make the best decisions in their care. One of her top priorities is listening to her patients and determining what is important to them.

Raised in New York City, Dr. Khalil loves Hampton Roads for its water-based activities (especially the beach), interesting historical areas and military population from across the world. Her favorite way to spend free time is with her family. Dr. Khalil and her husband have three children and she loves listening to them play the piano. She also enjoys traveling and learning about new cultures.
