Lifelong Health

Warwick Forest's history

Today's older Americans are a special group of people. They are more active than they have ever been. They are more independent, healthier and live longer. No one has been more attentive to these changes than Riverside Health System. After decades of studying the desires of older adults in the Hampton Roads area, Riverside identified a need in the early 1980s for the development of a continuing care retirement community to serve the Peninsula's active residents.

In 1988, Riverside opened the Peninsula's premier retirement community, Warwick Forest, on ten acres of land in the heart of Newport News. Warwick Forest has been home to retirees for over 30 years, while this fascinating area has been home to Virginians since the very beginnings of our nation. Located next to the airport, churches, shopping centers, medical services, banks, malls and restaurants, Warwick Forest provides an entire continuum of care—Independent Living, Assisted Living, Nursing and Memory Care, as well as Rehabilitation—on one beautiful campus.

Warwick Forest has always offered the amenities and levels of service that make this an exceptional Continuing Care Retirement Community. Everyone has a personal vision of their ideal retirement, which is why we offer our neighbors the widest array of dining options, social activities, residence styles and even financial options. There's always so much to do at Warwick Forest, you'll wonder how to fit it all in.
