Today Riverside Health officially opened the Jamison-Longford Medical Office Building (MOB) on the campus of Riverside Smithfield Hospital. The new 27,000 square-foot facility will provide administrative and clinical space for multiple specialty practices, expanding access to expert care for residents of Isle of Wight and surrounding communities.
"The opening of our new medical office building represents a meaningful step forward in how we care for our community. By expanding access to high-quality care closer to where our patients live, we’re helping bridge critical gaps and making it easier for individuals and families to get the services they need,” says Sally Ryan, Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer with Riverside Medical Group. “This new facility is more than just a building; it’s a commitment to improving health outcomes and supporting the well-being of the communities we’re privileged to serve."
Named in honor of two beloved late physicians who shaped health care in the Smithfield area, the Jamison-Longford MOB is a tribute to a legacy of compassionate care. The naming was made possible through a generous donation by the Luter Family, long-time supporters of health care and community development in the region.
Practices located in the MOB will open on a staggered schedule throughout September 2025:
- September 15: Riverside Urology Specialists Smithfield
- September 16: Riverside Orthopedic Specialists Smithfield
- September 19: Riverside Gastroenterology Specialists Smithfield
- September 22: Riverside Cardiology Specialists Smithfield
- September 25: Riverside Physical Therapy Smithfield
Additional practices will be added to the MOB in 2026, including Riverside Surgical Specialists and Riverside Neurology Specialists.
"This project represents our forward-looking vision to invest in the future of health care for our region. By building thoughtfully and strategically, we are not only addressing the needs of today but preparing to meet the needs of our growing community for decades to come,” says Jessica Macalino, MHA, President of Riverside Smithfield Hospital. “As we look ahead to the hospital’s opening in early January 2026, we remain focused on expanding access, closing care gaps, and ensuring that every individual has high-quality care—delivered close to home by people who truly care."
The MOB is part of the growing health care campus anchored by Riverside Smithfield Hospital, a full-service 50-bed hospital currently under construction and scheduled to open in early January 2026. Once complete, the campus will offer a continuum of care including specialty services, diagnostic imaging, emergency care, inpatient services and surgical capabilities all in one easily accessible location.
Riverside also plans to expand primary care services in Smithfield beginning in late 2025, rounding out its commitment to delivering full-spectrum, close-to-home health care for families in Isle of Wight and the surrounding communities.
