The highest level of stroke care is available at Riverside. Our stroke network is anchored by Riverside Regional Medical Center, which offers the Peninsula’s only Comprehensive Stroke Center. This designation from DNV, an internationally recognized accrediting body, highlights hospitals that meet standards to treat the most complex stroke cases.
RRMC has also received the Get With The Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award from the American Heart and Stroke associations. The award recognizes the hospital’s commitment to ensuring stroke patients receive the most appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines based on the latest scientific evidence.
To enhance our ability to treat strokes, Riverside recently introduced new RAPID technology. This advanced imaging software shows how blood is flowing in the brain, allowing physicians to assess the extent and severity of patients’ strokes far more quickly than ever before. It gives critical information — literally within seconds — to help determine the best way to intervene.
RRMC anchors a Riverside network that includes DNV-certified Primary Stroke Centers at Riverside Doctors' Hospital Williamsburg, Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital and Riverside Walter Reed Hospital. This designation recognizes hospitals that meet the standards to support better stroke outcomes.
