Yesterday, Riverside Patriots Colony at Williamsburg (PCAW), held a celebratory groundbreaking ceremony to kick off construction of a new 52-bed skilled nursing and long-term care facility, scheduled to open in late 2026. The new 43,500-square-foot facility will replace the existing nursing care center on the Williamsburg campus, offering an updated environment designed to meet the evolving needs of residents.
“This project reflects our unwavering commitment to evolving with the needs of our residents,” said Julie Bayly, Executive Director at Riverside Patriots Colony at Williamsburg. “Our current facility has served us well, but as the landscape of senior care continues to evolve, we’re looking ahead to ensure our environment aligns with the future of care—one that prioritizes privacy, flexibility, and the personalized support our residents will expect. This expansion ensures our residents can continue receiving the highest level of support—right here in the place they proudly call home.”
The new facility will feature two distinct wings — rehabilitation and long-term care with 52 private rooms designed to support patient comfort and personalized care. In addition, the project includes the creation of an outdoor rehabilitation courtyard, where residents can safely practice mobility on varied surfaces before returning home.
“As the needs of the community continue to evolve, so must our approach to care,” says Ed Heckler, President of Riverside Lifelong Health. “This new facility is a forward-looking investment in the kind of high-quality, integrated senior living our residents expect and deserve. We’re proud to make this investment in our residents, our team and the future of care in our community.”
The new expansion will allow Riverside to continue delivering top-tier services while preserving the comfort, dignity and community spirit that residents have come to expect. To learn more about services and levels of care offered at Patriots Colony, please visit riversideonline.com/patriotscolony.
