About Riverside At Home
Hospice Care at Home for End-of-Life Support
Choosing hospice means choosing comfort, dignity, and compassionate care. At Riverside, our in-home hospice services are tailored for individuals with a terminal illness and a life expectancy of six months or less. Whether you’re facing cancer, heart failure, lung disease, kidney disease, or Alzheimer’s, hospice helps you focus on living life to the fullest—at home or wherever you feel most comfortable.
Care is available wherever you call home: a private residence, assisted living, nursing home, or hospital. We focus on comfort, clear communication, and helping you maintain control during your journey.
Many people benefit from hospice earlier than they expect. If your loved one is experiencing declining health and is no longer seeking curative treatments, it may be time to talk with your doctor or a Riverside Hospice specialist.
Common diagnoses for hospice include:
- Cancer
- Heart or lung disease
- Kidney or liver failure
- Alzheimer’s or dementia
Yes—Medicare pays for hospice care in full through the Medicare Hospice Benefit. If you're eligible for Medicare Part A, you can receive:
- Regular visits from nurses, doctors, and home health aides
- Prescription medications for pain and symptoms
- Medical equipment and supplies
- Physical and occupational therapy
- Emotional and spiritual counseling
- Bereavement support for families
Most families pay little or nothing for hospice services. In addition to Medicare, coverage is typically provided by:
- Medicaid
- Private insurance
Our team will help verify your benefits and handle claims, so you can focus on what matters—being with your loved ones.
Medicare covers hospice care as long as a physician certifies that the patient remains terminally ill. This includes:
- Two initial 90-day benefit periods
- Unlimited 60-day benefit periods after reassessment
You can stop hospice at any time if your condition improves or you choose to return to curative treatment.
If you or a loved one has a terminal diagnosis, it’s never too early to explore hospice care. Riverside makes the process easy and compassionate.

Entering hospice does not have to be seen as a negative.
Instead, it is an opportunity to be more in control of the progress of your condition while significantly improving your quality of life. Hospice care will neither shorten nor prolong your life but instead holds the potential to add comfort and dignity to life.

If hospice doesn’t meet your expectations for any reason, you can discontinue the support.
If your condition improves or your disease goes into remission, you can easily transition from hospice to regular medical treatment. Similarly, you can readily be admitted to the hospital if you cannot successfully manage symptoms at home.

Keep your doctor – and gain a team in the process.
Many people have trusting and often long-term relationships with their physicians. For that reason, the hospice team works closely with your family doctor through the initial plan of care and ongoing communications.

You do not have to go to a designated hospice center for hospice care.
Hospice is an approach to end-of-life care, not a physical space. You can receive hospice care wherever you feel the most comfortable and wherever the need exists. For most people, that place is home, whether it’s the traditional family home, an assisted living facility or any other place you reside.
