Patriots Colony At Williamsburg Names Mike Rowe Executive Director

Rowe brings former military, health care experience to position at military friendly continuing care retirement community in Williamsburg.

Williamsburg, Va. — Patriots Colony At Williamsburg is pleased to announced it named Mike Rowe Executive Director of the continuing care retirement community.

Patriots Colony is a Riverside Health System LifeCare retirement community that caters to retired and former military officers, retired federal civil employees and their spouses.

Rowe's career in health care has spanned more than 30 years and includes an early stint as a Captain in the Medical Service Corps of the U.S. Air Force. After serving in the Air Force, Rowe returned to school to earn an M.H.A. in Healthcare Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University and the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond.

Mike Rowe HeadshotRowe became interested in working with the Riverside team, he said, because of its genuine passion for serving older adults and meeting their needs in a comprehensive, innovative and meaningful way.

"Patriots Colony is particularly exciting to me because it gives me the opportunity to serve the retired men and women who served our country through their own military and/or government service," Rowe said. "My father was in the U.S. Air Force for 30 years and I was in for six years, which I believe will enable me to better meet the needs of the residents of Patriots Colony."

Patriots Colony specifically drew Rowe's interest because of the high caliber of the Riverside executive management team and the company's history of older adult services development. He was also attracted to the quality of the Patriots Colony facilities, its mission to serve people who served in the military and government sectors and Riverside's desire to continually improve and achieve great service levels.

Previous to accepting the position with Patriots Colony, Rowe served in senior executive positions for health care organizations across the East Coast, from Florida to Maryland. Most of his previous health care administration time was spent in nearby Richmond, giving Rowe a great familiarity with the Williamsburg and Tidewater, Virginia regions and its rich military culture and history.

Rowe has a B.S. in Business Administration from Florida State University. Two years ago, Rowe was able to take a six-month sabbatical between positions and received training and certification as a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator at Westminster Canterbury in Richmond, also a continuing care retirement community.

Rowe considers it an honor to serve as Executive Director of Patriots Colony.

"I look forward to leading Patriots Colony into the future and getting to know each and every resident and team member in the coming days," Rowe said.
