Nathan Yowell, LNHA, CNANathan Yowell, LNHA, CNA

Administrator

Nathan Yowell is the Administrator of Sanders, Active Senior Living by Riverside. As the Administrator of Sanders, Nathan is responsible for the daily operations of the entire Sanders campus. The Administrator is responsible for making sure that our residents are well cared for, that the Sanders Campus is running well, and that Sanders remains compliant to all regulations set by local and federal standards.

Nathan has been at Sanders since June 2022. He has a Bachelor of Science in healthcare administration with a minor in business from James Madison University. Nathan was previously worked as the Administrator of the Williamsburg Landing Nursing Community. He is originally from Williamsburg where he currently resides with his lovely wife, Alexa, and his vibrant daughter, Blair. His daughter, Blair is still very young, so he spends his time trying to keep up with her. He wants to ensure that she has the best upbringing possible. They are within driving distance to both sets of grandparents, and they greatly value family. When Nathan is not at work or spending time with family, he enjoys working out and staying busy with house projects.

 

Brittany Hooper, BHA, LPN, CLSBrittany Hooper, BHA, LPN, CLS

Director of Assisted Living

Brittany Hooper is the Director of Riverside Assisted Living at Sanders. She is responsible for the daily operations of Sanders Assisted Living. Brittany is also responsible for making sure that our Assisted Living Community is running well, and that Sanders is compliant to all regulations set by local and federal standards. She will be your contact for any questions or concerns about the day-to-day issues faced by assisted living residents.

Brittany is a lifetime resident of Gloucester, Virginia. Because she grew up here, she loves the area and would like to continue her career with Sanders, in the heart of Gloucester. Brittany was an LPN for 13 years before deciding to take on an administrative career path during COVID. Using her clinical background, Brittany can use her bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration (while currently working on her master’s degree) to lead Sanders Assisted Living from every perspective. Brittany is married years and has two little boys. She enjoys being outside and loves kayaking, gardening, and playing with her two puppies, Callie and Grace, the only other girls in her house!

Barbara Weldon, MBABarbara Weldon, MBA

Marketing Director

Barbara Weldon is the Marketing Director for the entire Sanders campus. Barbara is here to help you and your family find the right level of care for you or your loved one. She can help answer your questions about taking that next step in caring for your loved one. Contact her if you would like information about Sanders Independent Living in one of our cottages, Sanders Assisted Living, or long-term care in one of Sanders’ amazing Heron Cove households.

She has been with Sanders since October 2018. She has a Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in Journalism, and Master of Business Degrees in Marketing, Project Management, and Human Resources. Born and raised in Southwestern Pennsylvania, Barbara moved to Virginia to attend Liberty University, where she met and married her husband, Tim. Together they have four children who are nearly grown. When Barbara is not helping find the perfect level of care for seniors, she is with her kids or outside helping her husband with their little farm in Gloucester.

Director of Nursing

Debbie Asbell is the Director of Nursing at Sanders. As the Director of Nursing, Debbie ensures that all buildings across the Sanders campus are fully staffed with well-trained clinical staff. She leads our nurses and certified nursing assistants in compassionate care and ensures continuing education for her team so that your loved one gets amazing care. Debbie works alongside the Admissions Nurse and Marketing Director to be sure that all admissions receive the correct level of care.


Pamela BrandenburgPamela Brandenburg

Director of Rehabilitation

Pam Brandenburg is the Director of Rehabilitation at Sanders. Pam leads a team of occupational therapists, physical therapists, and speech therapists. She makes sure that her therapy team runs smoothly. Pam helps to make sure that every resident receives the appropriate therapy for their situation, and she makes sure that your insurance agrees with her teams’ assessment. Pam runs a 5 star therapy group that consistently goes above and beyond.


Renee Neighbors, RNRenee Neighbors, RN

Admissions Nurse

Renee Neighbors is the Admissions Nurse for Sanders Rehabilitation and Long-Term Care. Renee works with referrals from various hospitals in the area to find the best placement for those who need 24-hour care. She helps to verify insurance information and connect with care coordinators to help arrange you or your loved ones’ stay at Sanders.

Renee joined Riverside Health Systems in 2015 after receiving her licensure as a Registered Nurse. She has lived in the Hampton Roads area all her life and made her way across the river to Gloucester in 2021 when she began her career as the Admissions Nurse for Sanders. Outside of work, she loves spending time with family, especially her new granddaughter. She also enjoys crafting and participating in events with her church.



Amber Brady Amber Brady

Administrative Assistant

Amber Brady is the Administrative Assistant for the entire Sanders campus. Amber is the first voice that most people hear when they call the Sanders Community, and she is often the first smiling face that they see when they walk through our doors. Amber helps keep the Sanders Community running smoothly by arranging transportation, keeping the administrative team organized, and so much more.

Amber joined Riverside in July 2021. Born and raised in Portsmouth, VA, Amber moved to Alabama in 2012 and lived there until 2020, moving back to the area to be closer to her family. She now lives with her family in Middlesex County and loves it. She has had a long career in the healthcare industry in many different areas, with Sanders being her first inpatient experience. She finds her job very rewarding and looks forward to being here every day. Outside of work, Amber enjoys spending time with her husband, Devin, and her four wonderful children. She also loves decorating, cooking, and baking.

Heron Cove One, Nurse Mentor and Household Leader

Debbie Dawson is the Head Nurse Mentor in Heron Cove One at Sanders. Debbie ensures the safety and security of her team and residents of her building. Debbie makes sure that her building runs smoothly and is compliant with all state and federal regulations. She oversees staffing, training, and supporting those who work in her building, as well as making sure that her residents have the best experience possible while at Sanders.

Debbie joined Sanders in August 2019. She has been a registered nurse since 1999. She lives in Lancaster County, VA, and has worked all around our area and in many different areas of nursing throughout her amazing career. When she is not ensuring the incredible care of her residents, she enjoys going out on the boat, fishing, going to the beach, and spending time with her family and twin grandbabies.




Angie Oliver, LPNAngie Oliver, LPN

Heron Cove Two, Nurse Manager and Household Leader

Angie Oliver is the Nurse Manager of Heron Cove Two at Sanders. Angie ensures the safety and security of her team and residents of her building. Angie makes sure that her building runs smoothly and is compliant with all state and federal regulations. She oversees staffing, training, and supporting those who work in her building, as well as making sure that her residents have the best experience possible while at Sanders.

Angie began her career with Riverside in 2016. She has 25 years of experience in geriatric care and is currently bridging the gap from her LPN to get her license as a Registered Nurse. She is originally from Middlesex County, VA and has worked at Medical Facilities of America as the Charge Nurse of the skilled care unit and was the Unit Manager for Mizpah Health Center. When she is not working the floor, Angie loves to play with her grandchildren and enjoys anything water or beach related, especially if it includes her family.





David JonesDavid Jones

Director of Food Services & Nutrition

David Jones is the Director of Food Services and Nutrition. David makes sure that our kitchen staff runs smoothly and properly. He makes sure that all equipment is running well and meets all state and federal requirements. David communicates daily with his staff and the residents to make sure that the food is delicious, nutritious, and delivered in a timely fashion.

David joined Riverside in October 2022. He has 28 years of experience working in many area restaurants, country clubs, and other retirement communities. He was born and raised in Norfolk, VA, moving to Williamsburg in 1988 to begin his career as a chef. When he is not working, David enjoys volunteering in his community at the Salvation Army, Meals on Wheels, and at The House of Mercy in Williamsburg. He also spent many years with the Williamsburg Youth Baseball League as a head coach.





Michael MurphyMichael Murphy

Business Office Manager

Michael Murphy is the Business Office Manager for Sanders. Michael makes sure that your insurance is valid and is going to pay for your rehabilitation services. He also makes sure that all monthly invoices are provided in a timely manner for all the Sanders’ residents and family members. Call Michael if you have any questions about insurance or billing.

Born and raised in Painesville, OH, Michael joined Riverside in 2016 as a Supply Chain Management Coordinator, transitioning to the Sanders team as the Administrative Assistant in 2020. In 2021, Michael was promoted into the Business Office Manager position. He received his Bachelor of Science from Milligan University in 2002 and was ordained as a minister in 2011. He served in the Navy during Desert Shield & Storm. When he is not at work, he enjoys golfing, swimming, and reading.





Shelia DeWolfShelia DeWolf

Activities Director

Shelia DeWolf is the Activities Director for the entire Sanders Campus. Shelia works hard to arrange activities for every level of care. Working with household leaders, the administration team, and her activities team, Shelia plans social, spiritual, cognitive, normalization, and exercise activities to keep our residents engaged and active.

Shelia began her career with Riverside Sanders in January 2018. She was born and raised in Middlesex County, VA. She knew from an early age that she wanted to work with the elderly and began working for Mizpah Health Care Center in 1984 as an activity assistant. In 1986 she received Activity Director Certification from Piedmont College. She enjoys working with the elderly population and knows that their wisdom and knowledge is like an open, endless book. Shelia has two daughters and a husband whom she enjoys spending time with. She is an animal lover and has animals of every kind on her property. She is also blessed to have her mother, 94, just down the road. She enjoys helping and spending time with her as her mom is her inspiration.






Kimberly MooreKimberly Moore

Social Work Director

Kim Moore is the Social Work Director at Sanders. For rehabilitation, once a patient is accepted into the Sanders Rehab, Kim begins contacting family members to find out as much as she can about our newest resident. She then shares this information with relevant team members so that your stay is as pleasant as possible. She then connects with our Discharge Planner to begin planning for your eventual departure from therapy. Kim also connects with residents throughout our community to help them acclimate to their new environment or overcome obstacles.

Originally from Mathews, VA, Kim joined Riverside in August 2015, and worked at Commonwealth Senior Living in Kilmarnock as their Memory Care Director before coming to Sanders in 2021. She has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Administration in Counseling from Liberty University. She is also a Teepa Snow Certified Coach, a Certified Dementia Practitioner, and is an MPNNCSP Support Coordinator for people with intellectual disabilities. When Kim is not at work, she enjoys fiber arts, sitting on the beach and organizing.







Pamela PiercePamela Pierce

Discharge Planner

Pamela Pierce is the Sanders Discharge Planner. As soon as you or your loved one arrives on the Sanders’ campus, Pamela communicates with your family to make sure that a plan is in place for the day of your discharge. She coordinates needed medical equipment, long term planning for assisted living or long-term care, if needed.

Pamela has been with Riverside since June 2022. She studied psychology at Liberty University. Born and raised in Mathews, VA, she found her love for Social Work in 2009 when she worked as a family resource specialist for a large school district in a military community. Since then, she has worked with homeless veterans, as a youth mental health case manager, and at a state psychiatric facility. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband, three wonderful children, crafting, and baking.








Martin ClebowiczMartin Clebowicz

Head Chef

Martin Clebowicz is the Head Chef at Sanders, Active Senior Living by Riverside. Martin joined the Sanders team in January 2021. He has received training at the Culinary Institute of Virginia, holds an Associate of Applied Science in Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry, and Culinary Arts and Applied Nutrition. Originally from East Hampton, CT, Chef Martin has been a Sous Chef at The Trellis in Williamsburg, the Pastry Chef at The Tides Inn in Irvington, a Baker at Blackbird Bakery in Williamsburg, the Cook at Blue Talon Bistro in Williamsburg, and so much more.
