She also sees the physician role as one of "working alongside patients with the goals of the whole person in mind. We need to be optimizing their health instead of just treating their disease. As certified Patient Centered Medical Homes, Riverside's family practices make it a priority to work with patients to create a personalized health care plan. That aligned with my goals as a physician."

She also has personal experience to help patients make healthy choices. "I am a diabetic and have been for 20 years.?When I speak to patients about their life choices and health it is coming from experience both in education but more importantly the day-to-day experience of living with a chronic disease."
