GLOUCESTER, Va. – Riverside Medical Group is pleased to announce that James LaRue, M.D. has joined Mathews Medical Center and is accepting new patients. He joins Ingrid Fincher, Family Nurse Practitioner and Karen Ransone, M.D. (pediatrics) who are also taking new patients, and the exceptional office team at the practice as of January 3, 2017.
Mathews Medical Center, located at 10976 Buckley Hall Road at Town Center in Mathews offers comprehensive medical services for the entire family, helping prevent illness, manage disease and coordinate care.
LaRue joins the Mathews team having served this past year at Riverside's Internal Medicine Associates of Gloucester. LaRue, who was born at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, grew up in Poquoson. After graduating from Poquoson High School, LaRue attended the College of William and Mary and then went on to earn his medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University's Medical College of Virginia in 2006. He completed his residency at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, N.C. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine.
At Riverside, LaRue said, "patients aren't just a number on a sheet. They are treated as people, as loved ones." Having worked in other health systems, LaRue said, he has already been impressed by that and the fact that Riverside provides an unmatched continuity of care for patients and physicians who freely refer back and forth to each other, always keeping the best interest of the patient in mind."
"That's not always true at other health systems," LaRue said. "Putting patients first is true at Riverside." With his patients, LaRue works to not only get to know each patient and their family, but to also help them understand more about their medical situations and health care.
"There's a lot of information out there," LaRue said. "I try to educate patients on the "why" of things and make sure we're not just speaking to our patients, but also really listening to our patients."
Dr. LaRue, M.D., is accepting new patients at Riverside Medical Group's Mathews Medical Center located at 10976 Buckley Hall Road in Mathews and looks forward to being a part of the Mathews community.
