Carrying the well wishes of hundreds of people within the Riverside "family", the final beam to be placed in the superstructure of the new hospital was bolted into place on Tuesday, August 25th.
Riverside Board members, team members, medical staff, Auxilians and volunteers were invited to sign the steel beam over the course of a week.?Hundreds of signatures, personal notes and quotations were thoughtfully left for posterity.?Many team members noted their dates of service.?Others gave their blessings or proudly dedicated their service to their teammates.
Signing the beam, and reading what others had written, had a sentimental significance for many visitors.?For Pamela Dix-Parker with the Riverside Foundation on the Shore, signing the beam was a way of expressing a close connection to the patient experience.?"Our team does great work every day, and I am proud to have my name be a part of the very fabric of the new building," she said.
John Peterman, Administrator at Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital, noted "this is a significant milestone in the construction schedule.?Construction is progressing safely and on-time thanks to a superb construction team."
