Riverside Receives 5000 Face Coverings from Million Mask MOVEment

Thanks to a love for health care workers and a passion for dancing, Riverside is delighted to announce it was the recipient of over 5,000 face coverings from Advis, Inc. made by ballroom gown seamstresses. The face coverings were distributed to the health system’s lifelong health facilities across eastern Virginia to continue efforts to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Lyndean Brick of Advis, a leading health care consulting firm, led the movement, knowing firsthand what frontline health care workers were facing at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

She led Advis and some trusted partners into action and created the Million Mask MOVEment™.

Brick combined her two passions, health care and ballroom dancing, and came up with a unique solution to engage gown seamstresses to make face masks for health care workers on the front lines.

Advis built their MOVEment with partners from Fred Astaire Dance Studios and the dance industry’s leading ballroom dress makers at Dore Designs, Dance America and Creative Canopy.

Seamstresses continue to work six days a week to ship masks to hospitals and organizations nationwide.

In addition to the generous donation from Advis, Riverside continues to accept homemade face coverings from the community. Following guidelines from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the face coverings being made and donated should be 100% cotton.

Donations may be dropped off at any Riverside hospital any weekday at the main entrances.
