Riverside Medical Group (RMG) is excited to announce the launch of their new Advanced Practice Provider (APP) critical care fellowship program. The program will offer a specialized educational curriculum tailored to developing critical care competencies and is open to both new grads or experienced Nurse Practitioners (NP) with acute care certifications and Physician Assistants (PA) who are interested in pursing a career in critical care medicine.
“We are excited to offer the only APP critical care fellowship in the Hampton Roads area,” says Terry Thompson, ACNP, FHM, Associate Director at Riverside Medical Group. “This fellowship program proves Riverside’s commitment to investing in the education and long-term growth of our Advanced Practice Providers.”
The 12-month fellowship offers a mix of clinical rotations, time in Riverside’s state-of-the art simulation training lab and formal didactic time. Fellows will receive additional training in advanced skills above the level of standard formal education to optimize quality of care to complex and critically ill adults. In addition, participants will receive the opportunity to acclimate and learn in a guided environment from experts in the field along with access to an extensive resource network throughout Riverside Health System.
“The multi-disciplinary approach is vital when educating NPs and PAs and preparing them for success in critical care environments,” says Tom Kayrouz, M.D., President of RMG. “The ability to advance their skills when treating high volume, high acuity patient populations increases their competence to provide safe, quality care to our patients.”
Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until April 1, 2023. Interviews will be held in April and May, with final decisions announced in June. The program begins on October 2, 2023.
