Williamsburg, VA –Marti Peterson, a former operations officer with the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), visited Patriots Colony At Williamsburg earlier this month as a keynote presenter in the community's regular speakers series.
Peterson, who served in the CIA for more than three decades, outlined her career and highlighted the time she spent in Moscow. Part of her role then was contacting an official in the Soviet Ministry of Foreign Affairs, code named TRIGON, who was passing Soviet Union secrets to her.
Eventually discovered, she returned to the U.S. where she continued her CIA career. Following retirement in 2003, she published a book about some of her experiences, titled The Widow Spy.
