Clinical Trials & Research
ENVISION Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) clinical trial is designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a heart valve replacement system intended to address aortic stenosis, or narrowing of the aortic valve. The study will also examine the safety and effectiveness of the system as a potential treatment for symptomatic heart disease due to failure of a previously implanted aortic valve. Transplant Outreach Clinic Newport News

The UVA Health satellite clinic in Newport News allows patients in Eastern Virginia to complete pre-transplant evaluation close to home, reducing the amount of travel for referred transplant patients living farther away. Patients can also be seen here for post-transplant follow-up care.

As part of the ongoing collaboration, Dr. Dimitrios Pousios has joined Riverside Thoracic & Cardiovascular Surgery, in affiliation with UVA Health, working alongside long-standing Riverside surgeons Dr. Paul Evans and Dr. Robert Strange. The expanded team enhances access to highly specialized heart and lung care for patients served at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Together, the surgeons deliver coordinated heart and lung care supported by the shared clinical standards, academic collaboration and specialty resources made possible through the strategic alliance between Riverside and UVA Health.
