Whether you love playing Bridge or prefer to work with your hands you can pursue your passion at Patriots Colony. With nearly 40 resident run clubs and activities there really is something for everyone.  Below are just a few of the many regular activities that you can join with your friends and neighbors.

Arts and Crafts

Sign up for classes with a professional instructor. No experience necessary. “Colony Critters” (CRocheters and knITTERS) is a group of needle workers making hats, blankets, mittens, etc., for those in need in the Williamsburg community. Sew What - Ladies interested in various facets of crafts meet twice a month in the Small Hobby Room. What do they do: they talk, laugh, knit, crochet, needlepoint, quilt, do beading, cross stitch, and maybe even hem a pair of pants. No special talent needed

Pool and snooker played on tables with pockets; other games played on tables without pockets. We play 8-ball pool where 15 balls are used. The 8-ball is the last ball to be pocketed in the game and determines the winner. We play by the US Professional Pool Players Association (UPA) rules.

We play to have fun & socialize. Tournaments are held twice a year, and everyone is invited to participate. The tournament is established as a blind draw, so you can get to meet your neighbors. We now have more than 60 residents involved and we love spectators.

Bridge (Duplicate) - Very player friendly — no money or master points involved. The group welcomes all who enjoy playing. Bidge (Party) - Meets the second and fourth Saturdays of each month. There is a $2.00 participation fee as prizes are awarded.experience necessary. Mahjong - Mahjong players meet weekly in the Card Room. Newcomers are welcome. No experience necessary.

We have approximately 30 members and our semi-annual concerts are high points of entertainment. We sing at special events such as Memorial Day, Veterans Day, the Christmas party and, of course, we go out caroling during the Christmas season. Some members elect to join the Vesper Choir which sings once a month at the Vesper Service. Come and enjoy – no audition necessary

Line Dancing - Basic line dances are taught to familiar music and beginners to experts are invited. Park Walkers – Patriots Colony is surrounded by many wonderful trails to enjoy walking and biking. The group have an outing twice a month and there is a trail for everyone. Pickleball - The game combines elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong using a paddle like ping pong, on a court the size of a badminton court, over a net like tennis, using a wiffle ball.

If you are a golfer, or just simply want to play in our putting contests, Patriots Colony offers several choices for you. You are eligible for a group membership rate at nearby Williamsburg National Golf Club, which includes weekly play and competitive tournaments. We have putting contests on our executive, 5 hole, Astroturf green and welcome all to join us.

The purpose is to identify and bring to Patriot’s Colony interesting speakers that will address a variety of subjects of interest with different points of view. We typically host at least one speaker each month. One of our main responsibilities is finding good speakers, communicating with them and hosting them during their visit.

Garden Club- Provides an exceptional gardening opportunity for all residents to enjoy. With 29 regular and 4 extended raised beds, the garden is primarily devoted to vegetables. Annual and perennial flowers are also grown, Handicraft Shop -The Shop is a woodworking and repair shop. It is in the garage building behind the Convalescent Center and is run by the residents for the residents. There is a small membership fee that covers the cost of limited expendables stored in the shop for the use of members.

Established for residents and is maintained by residents. Our books and audio materials are collected from donations. As space is limited, the focus of the library is on books or media (DVDs, Audiobooks, Music CDs) that people are reading or using. Genealogy Club- The purpose is to provide members with methods and resources needed to conduct genealogical research. Members can share their individual research

As an extension of our residents’ legacy of generosity and compassion, the Patriots Fund was established to meet the needs of residents who may, through no fault of their own, experience financial difficulties. All contributions are used specifically to support qualifying Patriots Colony residents.
