Navigating COVID-19

Many of you have asked if you can support Riverside by donating supplies or sewing masks. We are humbled and grateful for this overwhelming generosity. The guidelines below have been established to help shape these efforts, based on input from our infection prevention and infectious disease experts. We are sincerely thankful for your support. Together we are #RiversideStrong.

As other needs arise, we will post them here. You can learn more about other ways to help by clicking here.

Remember, the most important thing we can all do to help is to practice social distancing and wash our hands regularly.

Riverside is welcoming donations of medical supplies that are difficult to obtain if the items are new and in unopened boxes. We can only accept the items noted here:

  • N95 respirator masks
  • Surgical masks
  • Disposable gloves (all sizes), latex-free
  • Disposable surgical caps
  • Disposable foot covers
  • Protective eyewear
  • Nasal testing swaps
  • Viral testing kits
  • Face guards and face shields
  • Alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Industrial cleaning wipes
  • Touchless thermometers

For corporate or industry donations of a larger scale, please contact Allison Fonner at [email protected]. She will connect you to the right person.

Donations may be dropped off at our hospitals any weekday at the main entrances. You can also call the number noted below for the individual facility for more information.

In-kind donations of new and unopened medical supplies should be clearly labeled. Donations of homemade face covers should be packaged in sealed Ziploc bags with the number of enclosed items labeled clearly on the outside of the sealed bag. Large donations (such as a delivery truck) should call ahead to arrange for logistics.

Contact information will be required from each donor so we can reach out to you with any questions that may arise. We are unable to accept any items donated without contact information. We can also only take medical supplies listed above as we prioritize our most urgent needs.

Riverside is accepting homemade face covers for use by visitors and others, including our skilled nursing facility residents. Riverside will wash and process all of the face covers before they are distributed.

Face covers should be made with two layers of tightly woven 100 percent cotton fabric. We suggest one of the four patterns below. These can be made with ties or elastic. As the elastic to make them is now in high demand, another option is to utilize elastic hair bands. We have found that it works best if you cut the band and sew it to the mask instead of leaving the band as a complete circle.

These items may be dropped off during the designated hours at each facility as outlined below.

At the time Riverside is not accepting medications, homemade food or blankets. Three-D printed items cannot be accepted unless they have been coordinated ahead of time to ensure clinical specifications can be met.

If you are looking to provide large donations of food we encourage you to reach out to your area Food Bank. This is the best way to get the food into the hands of those who need it most.
