About Rebekah Ann Vreeland Sensenig, DO

Dr. Sensenig earned her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005. She completed an internal medicine residency at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio in 2008, followed by an infectious disease fellowship at Brooke Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall Medical Center in Texas in 2010. Dr. Sensenig is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in infectious diseases.

Originally drawn to the field of infectious disease through medical mission work in countries like Bolivia and Guatemala, Dr. Sensenig is intrigued by the devastating impact of microscopic bacteria and viruses on the human body. She is driven to help people by curing these infections with the utmost respect and compassion, treating all patients as she would treat family members. A down-to-earth provider, Dr. Sensenig is easy to talk to and gets to know her patients as people, not just illnesses.

Before Dr. Sensenig joined Riverside, her nine years of service in the U.S. Air Force included her role as chief of the Mike O’Callaghan Federal Medical Center’s Department of Infectious Diseases at Nellis Air Force Base. Her special interests include travel medicine, tropical diseases and the treatment of HIV infection.

Dr. Sensenig is a New Jersey native who absolutely loves Hampton Roads, finding the community to be very welcoming to newcomers. She and her husband and their three sons enjoy the area’s excellent public schools, family activities, great weather and proximity to the beach. Dr. Sensenig’s favorite pastimes include photography, water and snow skiing, and traveling with her family.
