General Surgery

Our surgeons provide a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for skin lesions.

Skin Lesions Include:

  • Moles
  • Lumps
  • Skin tags
  • Chronic wounds
  • and Ulcers - just to name a few.

Skin lesions can range from troublesome to cancerous or precancerous. Although skin lesions may simply be removed for cosmetic purposes, we also perform surgery to confirm the presence of skin cancer and opt for continued treatment, if necessary.

Due to the large range of skin pathology, treatment of a skin lesion is variable depending on the nature of the lesion, anatomical site and size of the lesion. An appropriate recommendation for treatment can be given only after examination and assessment of the skin lesion(s). In most cases excision of skin lesions can be performed under local anesthetic as a same day procedure. Pilonidal cysts occur in the cleft that exists between the two buttocks. When a pilonidal cyst becomes infected, it is called an abscess. These cysts may be congenital (present at birth) or may result from hairs penetrating the skin and accumulating beneath the skin.
