Checking-in

All visits to the maternity department should check in at the Riverside Shore Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. You will be assisted to the maternity department by one of our team.

If you are coming for a scheduled non stress test (NST) appointment you will enter through the main entrance of the hospital to check in at the front reception desk.

Pain Management

Some women manage the discomfort of labor by using prepared childbirth techniques, the birthing ball, warm showers, and/or systemic medication administered through an IV.

Other women choose to have epidural analgesia. This is a commonly used method to provide complete relief from the pain of labor or C-section birth. It involves an injection into the epidural space through your lower back.

Nitrous oxide is also available as a method of pain management.

You can speak to one of our anesthesiologists during your stay in Labor and Delivery.
