Insulin Injection Education (Getting Started)

Class Description:

This is a one-on-one training on how to give yourself insulin injections, including information and instruction on calculating the correct dose based on your blood sugar levels, diet and activity.

Who Should Attend?

People with diagnosis of Type 1, Type 2 or Gestational Diabetes who utilize insulin

(new diagnosis or have been living with diabetes but hasn’t attended class)

Where?

Available at 2 in-person locations or from anywhere via virtual visits

Class Name

Considering an Insulin Pump? (Pre-Pump Class)

Class Description:

This class is designed for individuals living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes who are considering using an insulin pump.

Topics covered in this class include the following, as well as any topics brought up by class participants:

  • Overview of available pumps
  • Discussing the specifics of the different types to determine which is the best match for the patient’s individual lifestyle, habits and comfort level.

Who Should Attend?

People with diagnosis of Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes who are considering getting an insulin pump or continuous glucose monitor.

How Long is the Class?

1 class that lasts 1 hour

When?

Every month there are 2 classes offered at the Peninsula location:

2nd Wednesday or each month, 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm

3rd Monday of each month, 3 pm – 4 pm

Insulin Pump Initial Training (Getting Set Up)

Class Description:

This one-on-one class is designed for individuals living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes who have recently obtained an insulin pump.

Certified Diabetes Educators will:

  • Help you learn to insert the pump
  • Review how to program the pump & track readings
  • Learn to trouble shoot any issues

Who Should Attend?

People with diagnosis of Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes who are starting on a new insulin pump.

Insulin Pump Adjustments (Trouble Shooting or Reprogramming)

Class Description:

This one-on-one class is designed for individuals living with Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes who have an insulin pump and require assistance adjusting or trouble-shooting the device.

Certified Diabetes Educators will:

  • Assist with needed adjustments
  • Review how to program the pump & track readings
  • Trouble shoot any issues and review ways to address any future problems

Who Should Attend?

People with diagnosis of Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes who are having issues with a current insulin pump.
