Nutrition during Cancer

Our registered dietician nutritionists are specialized in oncology and help you with your nutrition before, during and after your cancer treatment.

Getting to your cancer treatment appointments are important to us. If you have concerns over transportation to your appointment, let your cancer care team know.

Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) has a bus stop at Riverside Cancer Care Network in Newport News.

You can also contact your insurance provider to inquire about transportation benefits they may offer. Medicaid and supplemental Medicare plans may also offer transportation support.


If you are uninsured when undergoing diagnosis and treatment there is help to apply for insurance.

Riverside partners with HealthFund Solutions to provide financial solutions for uninsured patients in need of medical care. They help patients who cannot afford their premium cost and/or need assistance buying their own plan on the health care exchange.

Explore low-cost and no-cost health coverage programs for eligible children, pregnant women and adults, including individuals with disabilities.

If you are uninsured and unable to afford a mammogram or pap smear, please contact our Cancer Outreach Office for assistance at 1-800-520-7006. Riverside is able to offer screening mammograms and cervical cancer screenings at no cost to eligible women for those who quality through the grant support of Every Women’s Life (part of the National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP). If cancer is detected, we can help women diagnosed through this program enroll for coverage through Medicaid throughout treatment.


Application for disability benefits is solely managed and determined through Social Security.

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) programs provide assistance to people who cannot work because of medical condition that meet’s Social Security’s strict definition of disability and other requirements.
