The mission of VCU Riverside Family Medicine Residency is to provide quality, family-centered care with an emphasis on acute & chronic disease management, disease prevention & health maintenance, and patient education while training the best Family Physicians in the United States—not only for the present, but for the future.

Program Aims

  1. Train Residents physicians broadly and excellently in inpatient and outpatient medicine in the full breadth of Family Medicine so they can enter any post-graduate work venue and be successful.
  2. Recruit and train medical students to become excellent family physicians who will practice in Virginia. We have an extensive exposure to medical students which adds to the rich milieu of the residency experience for students, residents, and faculty
  3. Strive to teach continuous quality improvement and promote community outreach so that these endeavors can be continued after graduation.
