Advanced technology for liver cancer treatments

Riverside offers some of the most technically advanced treatments for liver cancer. Our team uses a minimally invasive radioembolization approach called Y90 to target radiation therapy for primary or metastatic liver cancer. Interventional radiologists work closely with our nuclear medicine specialists to provide this targeted dose of cancer treatment that minimizes the treatment effects on surrounding healthy tissue.

The Varian Edge Radiosurgery Suite in Riverside Health System’s dedicated Radiosurgery Center provides advanced technology capabilities for liver cancer patients. Using a multidisciplinary approach with hepatologists for treatment recommendations, our board-certified and fellowship-trained interventional radiologists provide treatment expertise, performing non-invasive cancer procedures with real-time tumor tracking technology. Other liver cancer specialized treatments at Riverside include radiofrequency ablation and transarterial chemoembolization, also performed by interventional radiologists. These minimally invasive cancer-fighting treatments destroy cancer cells through ablation or block blood flow to a liver tumor.
