Cervical Cancer

At Riverside, we use medical experts from different fields of medicine to ensure that you get the best care possible. Depending on your diagnosis and overall health, your cervical cancer team may include one or more of the following:

  • Medical oncologist: A physician who diagnoses and treats cancer
  • Gynecologic oncologist: A physician who specializes in treating cancers of the female reproductive system
  • Radiation oncologist: Who specializes in the treatment of cancer with radiation
  • General surgeon: With experience including abdomen, stomach and breast surgeries
  • Oncology nurses: Who specialize in the treatment of all types of cancer
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Nutritionist
  • Social worker
  • Physical therapist
  • Psychologist

The oncologist or gynecologic oncologist may assume the role as your main health care provider and coordinate treatment given by other specialists.

Working together to coordinate care, your health care team will:

  • Develop an individualized treatment plan keeping in mind your quality of life after treatment
  • Meet regularly to discuss your treatments
  • Address any other aspects of care and support that you need as a Riverside patient
