First Documented COVID-19 Case at Riverside Doctors Hospital Williamsburg

Our Stories
COVID case

Today is a day that Riverside Health System will remember forever. March 9 marks exactly one year since Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg received the first documented COVID-19 patient for Riverside Health System.

Pictured here is Nehemiah Thrash Jr., M.D., Hospitalist at Riverside Doctors’ Hospital Williamsburg, the attending physician overseeing the care for the patient who came into the hospital experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Dr. Thrash quickly ordered the COVID-19 test on the patient, which came back positive and the team worked together to support the patient and the family through to recovery. One year later, Dr. Thrash and the RDHW team reflect on this milestone. The team continues to go above and beyond to care for each patient they encounter at Doctors’ Hospital.

In the year that has followed that first case at Riverside, our team members have continued to safely provide care to COVID-19 patients, as well as other patients and residents across the system.

To all our team members, we aregrateful to you. You are the heroes that continue to live out our mission to care for others as we would care for those we love.

Together we are #riversidestrong
