Free Prostate Cancer Screenings

An estimated 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in his lifetime. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in American men. Prostate cancer is curable if caught early. Make time for yourself. Get screened.
Riverside Health System is offering a free prostate cancer screening event on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. Screenings are by appointment only.

Screening guidelines:
Who might benefit having this screening.
· Men at average risk, aged 50 to 70 and currently in excellent health;
· Men at high risk, African-American aged 45 to 70;
· Men at high risk, aged 45-70 with one first-degree relative who has had prostate cancer prior to age 65 (father, brother or son);
· Men at higher risk, aged 40 to 70 with more than one first- degree relative who has had prostate cancer prior to age 65 (father, brother or son).
Who is not eligible for this screening:
· Men who have or had prostate cancer;
· Men who have prostate problems at present — are seeing a doctor for prostate issues.

Screening done safely in the age of COVID-19.
Your health and safety have always been our priorities. Because of the COVID-19 guidelines, we will be taking new infection prevention steps for this screening event.
Men attending the screening will be screened when they arrive – this includes a questionnaire and taking your temperature. You will not be admitted to the screening if you have a temperature of 100.4 degrees or higher and/or you have other flu-like symptoms (cough, sore throat, body aches, diarrhea).
Masking:
Men attending the screening should wear their own personal mask when they arrive. As part of our usual routine, Riverside team members will be wearing personal protective equipment (mask, gloves and eye protection) during your screening.
Cleaning:
Patient rooms will be cleaned and sanitized between each screening visit with an advanced high-level cleaner. All nonclinical areas (waiting room, desks, lobbies) will continue to be disinfected multiple times a day.
Hand hygiene:
All patients will be given guidelines on effective hand sanitizing using our existing hand sanitizers on-site. All staff will continue to sanitize their hands in and out of patient rooms.
