Information for Patients and Family — After Your Stay

At Riverside Mental Health & Recovery Center, our goal is to help you learn ways to manage your behavioral health issues, feel better and start your journey toward a happy, productive life. Read on to learn important information to help you after your inpatient treatment.

Your journey to wellness continues

Your treatment at Riverside Mental Health & Recovery Center is a critical first step on your road to recovery and wellness. After you leave, it’s important to continue working with behavioral health providers to strengthen and support the coping mechanisms you’ve learned with us. And we’re here to help.

Supporting you with ongoing follow-up care

Soon after you start treatment at our Center, your care manager will begin working with you to create a plan for when you go home. We want to help you transition smoothly from hospital care to outpatient services in the community. We’ll verify and schedule your initial outpatient appointments. If you do not already have a primary care provider, we’ll help you find one. We can also make a referral or an appointment with a Riverside Medical Group provider.

No need to feel overwhelmed. For your convenience, we’ll give you a written after-visit summary outlining the care recommendations and the next best steps you created with your care team. Please follow the care guidance to continue your progress outside the Center.

Bridge care clinics: Timing your first outpatient appointment is key

We want you to feel safe and well-cared for even after you leave the Riverside Mental Health & Recovery Center If a timely appointment with your outpatient provider is unavailable, we’ll see you in our bridge clinic. We designed this clinic to “bridge” any gaps between your care with us and in the community. We want to ensure you get the behavioral health care you need – when you need it.

Patient satisfaction survey

We want to provide the best care for you and any future patients, and we listen to your feedback. If you have any complaints or concerns about your treatment during your stay, please notify the nurse in charge right away. We also want you to share your thoughts via our patient satisfaction survey. We take your feedback seriously. You’ll get to comment on our facility and your care so we can make improvements if needed.

Hospital bill

Your bill reflects the services you received during your stay at the Center. If you have additional tests or treatments in the hospital, you may also receive bills from physicians you did not see in person. These bills cover professional services provided to diagnose and interpret test results while you were a patient. Specialists perform these services and are required to submit separate bills. If you have questions about your bill, please contact our Billing office at 757-989-8830, option 3.

Champions of Caring – Make a nomination

Our Champions of Caring program helps us honor caregivers who give you excellent service, the people who go above and beyond each day. If you or your loved one encounters an outstanding caregiver, we encourage you to make a nomination to our Champions of Caring program.

Make a Difference fund

Make a Difference funds allow you to support your community by designating a monetary gift to the Riverside Health System facility or program that personally means the most to you. When you make a gift in our name, 100% of the funds go to facility enhancements, programs and equipment needs at Riverside Mental Health & Recovery Center. Your generosity allows us to offer our patients a higher standard of mental health care.
