The largest facility of its kind on the Virginia Peninsula, Riverside Emergency and Trauma Center is staffed by physicians specially trained in emergency and trauma medicine. It is here that lifesaving care for critically ill or injured patients is delivered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Located on the campus of Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, it is the region’s only accredited Trauma Center.
There are over 40 private rooms in the Emergency and Trauma Center for ill or injured emergency patients and two state-of-the art trauma bays. Because it is physically located on the campus of Riverside Regional Medical Center where physicians routinely perform open heart, brain and orthopedic surgery as well as many other high levels of care, the need for emergency and trauma patients to be transferred to another treatment facility is eliminated.
