About Robert W Comer, MD

Robert W. Comer, M.D., is an infectious disease doctor who specializes in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B, hepatitis C and travel-related infections. Dr. Comer works with patients to understand their goals and provide accurate diagnosis and treatment.  

Dr. Comer earned a Bachelor of Science in biology from San Diego State University in San Diego and a Master of Science in biology from Middle Tennessee University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He completed his medical degree at the University of Tennessee School of Medicine in Memphis. His residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics was completed at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. He completed an infectious disease fellowship at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He is board certified in infectious disease and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.  

Outside of medicine, Dr. Comer enjoys staying active by playing pickleball and golf. He loves spending time with his family and dog. As a native of San Diego, he appreciates the beaches of coastal Virginia and being near the water.
