About Nermeen Kolta, MD

Nermeen Kolta, M.D., is an internal medicine physician providing comprehensive primary care and preventive care for adults. She specializes in routine physicals and preventive screenings to manage chronic and complex medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, thyroid disorders and obesity. Dr. Kolta believes great care starts with understanding the whole person and partnering with patients to support long-term health and wellness.

Dr. Kolta earned her medical degree from Assiut University Faculty of Medicine in Egypt and completed her internal medicine residency at the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center in Largo, Maryland. During her residency, she was also involved in teaching and mentoring medical students and residents. 

What Dr. Kolta values most about internal medicine is the opportunity to build long-term relationships with her patients and care for them throughout adulthood. She takes time to listen, explain medical conditions and treatment options clearly, and involve patients in decisions about their health. Her goal is to help patients not only manage illness, but also prevent disease and maintain their health and quality of life over time. 

Born and raised in Egypt, Dr. Kolta speaks both English and Arabic and values providing culturally sensitive care to patients from diverse backgrounds. Outside of medicine, Dr. Kolta enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, cooking and reading. She appreciates the welcoming community and waterfront setting of Hampton Road.
