About Madeline A Kirby, MD

Madeline A. Kirby, M.D., is a fellowship-trained nephrology physician with a special interest in caring for patients with lupus nephritis, chronic kidney disease, glomerulonephritis, high blood pressure and women’s health nephrology issues.  

Dr. Kirby earned her medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean in St. Maarten. She then completed an internal medicine residency at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine in Roanoke. She went on to complete a nephrology fellowship at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C.  

A career in nephrology allows Dr. Kirby to develop long-term relationships with her patients. She finds it an exciting field with many recent advancements, and she looks forward to applying them to help her patients prevent progression of kidney failure. 

Dr. Kirby has lived all over the world and is looking forward to exploring Virginia’s beaches and mountains. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family and pets, reading, baking, Pilates, indoor rock climbing and tennis.
