About Joseph O Converse, MD

Dr. Converse received his bachelor's degree from James Madison University and earned his medical degree from West Virginia University. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency followed by a Fellowship in Gastroenterology at The Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Converse is board-certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology and is a fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Dr. Converse is on the active medical staff of Riverside Doctors' Hospital Williamsburg, Riverside Walter Reed Hospital, Riverside Doctors' Surgery Center Williamsburg, and Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. Dr. Converse has been selected as a "Top Doc" by Hampton Roads Magazine.

Dr. Converse's special medical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of conditions related to the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, colon, liver, gallbladder and pancreas. He routinely performs colonoscopies, endoscopies, and other advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
