About David James Hanna, DO

David J. Hanna, D.O., is fellowship trained in gastroenterology, hepatology, bariatric medicine and clinical nutrition. While he specializes in diagnosing gastroenterological and hepatologic conditions, Dr. Hanna also has particular interests in treating fatty liver disease and obesity. He is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology, as well as bariatric medicine, and clinical nutrition.

Dr. Hanna earned his medical degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. He also completed a master’s degree of Clinical Science during his Internal Medicine residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. Dr. Hanna has fellowship training in obesity medicine and clinical nutrition support, as well as gastroenterology and hepatology from Geisinger Health in Danville, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hanna is the type of doctor I was looking for. He is the third physician I have been assigned to for my condition and he was the first to take my concerns and goals seriously. Finding his level of care is hard to come by. He shows respect when listening to my concerns and then provides Information to explain what is going on in a way that I can understand. I appreciate that he checks to make sure I am in clear understanding of what is going on and that I am completely comfortable with the treatment plan that has been decided. He truly explains everything extremely clear and is highly supportive and optimistic about what aspects can be improved/controlled in my condition. I would recommend Dr. Hanna to anyone and wish everyone can receive the same level of care that I am fortunate to have access to.

I haven't been with Dr. Hanna very long but I am already spreading the word of how thankful I am that I was directed to him as my Gastroenterologist. He is amazing. He's one of the most knowledgeable doctors I've ever dealt with and his compassion and care for me and my health issue is such a fresh wind.
