About Alyssa Dean Shanks, PA-C

Alyssa Shanks, PA-C, is a physician assistant specializing in cardiology and treating a wide range of cardiovascular conditions including heart disease, high blood pressure, atrial fibrillation, heart failure and high cholesterol. She is passionate about empowering patients with knowledge and understanding of their disease process and treatment plan.  

Alyssa earned her Master of Physician Assistant Studies degree at the Christian Brothers University in Memphis. She holds a Bachelor of Science in biochemical, cellular and molecular studies from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.   

As a compassionate and attentive listener, Alyssa takes time to get to know her patients. She appreciates having meaningful conversations and enhancing each patient’s quality of life.   

Alyssa grew up in Memphis and recently moved to the Hampton Roads area with her family and rescue pup Gemma. She loves living on the coast and spending time outdoors with her family. When she’s not at work, Alyssa enjoys traveling, practicing yoga and cooking.
