About Alexander Matthew Fleming, DO
Dr. Fleming is a board-certified and fellowship-trained sports medicine physician specializing in concussions, musculoskeletal injuries, osteoarthritis and sports physicals.
After earning a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Fleming completed a fellowship at SUNY at Buffalo while working as a team physician for the University of Buffalo’s 385 Division I athletes. He is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and achieved a Certificate of Added Qualifications in sports medicine.
While growing up, Dr. Fleming wrestled and played football and baseball. He was a three-time letter winner in football at Davidson College. Since sports impacted his life in a positive manner, Dr. Fleming wants to help all athletes return safely from injuries, achieve their goals and participate in their chosen sports as long as possible.
His main philosophy in medicine is to first understand a patient’s goals or ambitions, give his expert opinion and then present options for a patient to choose from. Dr. Fleming’s other areas of special focus include ultrasound guided injections, platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injections for injuries and viscous supplementation injections to treat arthritis.
Dr. Fleming grew up in a suburb of Pittsburgh. He enjoys golfing, spending time at the beach, and watching Game of Thrones. His sports teams are the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
