About Nirmala D Dhungana, FNP
Nirmala D. Dhungana, FNP-C, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner specializing in women’s health, specifically post-operative gynecological cancer care.
Nirmala earned a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Towson University in Baltimore, Maryland. She worked at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in the Medical Intensive Care Unit for 5 years. She completed a family nurse practitioner Master of Science program at the University of Cincinnati in Ohio.
Highlighted by her firsthand experiences with gynecological cancer, Nirmala knows the importance of improved care access, increased awareness and better support for women. She’s motivated to make a difference and understands she’s not just treating a condition; she’s caring for a person with a full life and story. Nirmala sees it as her duty to nurture each patient and honor their journey.
Born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal, Nirmala is fluent in English, Nepali and Hindi. Nirmala enjoys Virginia’s stunning waterfront vistas, vibrant cultural scene and beautiful weather. Outside work, she likes running, singing karaoke and taking staycations with her husband and three children.
