About Melvin Dennis Schursky Jr., MD

Dr. Schursky specializes in general surgery. He chose general surgery because he "loves the broad range of surgical care that he provides for all ages at Riverside Surgical Specialists." General surgery also provides Dr. Schursky with opportunities to continually use the latest in advanced minimally invasive surgical techniques. As he puts it, "My goal is to provide excellent, state-of-the-art care to all patients in our community." He has a special interest in surgical treatments for breast and colorectal cancer. He currently uses a breast tumor localization technique, MAGSEED as well as a special technique to reduce complications during gallbladder and colorectal surgery with the latest fluorescence imaging system and ICG (Indocyanine Green) administration.

Dr. Schursky graduated from Temple University School of Medicine, did his surgical training at Morristown Medical Center in New Jersey and completed a fellowship in surgical critical care at Children's Hospital Boston. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgeons since 2009.

Originally from the Philadelphia area, Dr. Schursky and his wife enjoy being outdoors, boating, traveling, and spending time with their young children. They particularly enjoy how close and personable the Gloucester community is and the relationships they have built here over the years.
