About Julia W Sheets, MD

Julia W. Sheets, M.D., is a fellowship-trained hematology oncology physician, double board certified in oncology and hematology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Sheets specializes in treating breast and lung cancer, leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma as well as general hematologic and oncologic conditions. 

Dr. Sheets earned her medical degree from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. While conducting bone marrow transplant research, she developed a strong interest in oncology. She then completed an internal medicine residency and a hematology oncology fellowship at the University of North Carolina Hospitals, also in Chapel Hill.   

Her dedication to building trusting relationships with her patients and their families is evident in her caring, compassionate approach.  Dr. Sheets takes time with each patient to ensure they understand their disease and are comfortable with their proposed treatment options. She collaborates with other members of the patient’s care team and crafts individualized treatment plans personalized to their unique needs. 

Dr. Sheets enjoys traveling, cooking and exploring coastal Virginia’s beaches and parks with her husband and two daughters.
