About David James Hanna, DO

David J. Hanna, D.O., is fellowship trained in gastroenterology, hepatology, bariatric medicine and clinical nutrition. While he specializes in diagnosing gastroenterological and hepatologic conditions, Dr. Hanna also has particular interests in treating fatty liver disease and obesity. He is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology, as well as bariatric medicine, and clinical nutrition.

Dr. Hanna earned his medical degree from the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. He also completed a master’s degree of Clinical Science during his Internal Medicine residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. Dr. Hanna has fellowship training in obesity medicine and clinical nutrition support, as well as gastroenterology and hepatology from Geisinger Health in Danville, Pennsylvania.

I came into to get one issue addressed and that was not addressed in the visit. I was told I had to go for a colonoscopy without the reason being provided for why I had to go; at no point was I given an option to choose another route of treatment. No consideration was given for my life or the difficulty this might cause me. When I followed up to ask about the cause of my visit, I was told that the doctor was not able to make that decision at that time, so I wasted my time coming to GI at all. I did not feel listened to, understood, or heard by the doctor
