About Britany Nichole Thompson, MD
Britany N. Thompson, M.D., is a vascular surgeon who specializes in the open surgical and endovascular management of carotid artery disease (CAD), peripheral artery disease (PAD), aneurysms and deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Her expertise includes transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR), endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) and other minimally invasive procedures.
Dr. Thompson earned a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. She obtained her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond. She completed a general surgery residency at the Carilion Clinic, affiliated with Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, in Roanoke. This was followed by a fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Chattanooga. She is board certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
Building long-lasting relationships with her patients is important to Dr. Thompson. She practices patient-centered medicine and works to ensure her patients understand their disease processes and treatment plans. She takes pride in providing valuable care to the community.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Thompson enjoys spending time with family, cooking, reading and watching documentaries. She values the welcoming community, diversity and southern charm of coastal Virginia.
