John R. Barley IV, DO

After earning his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Barley completed a family medicine residency locally with Riverside Brentwood Family Medicine in affiliation with Virginia Commonwealth University. He subsequently completed fellowship training in primary care sports medicine at Wake Forest University. Dr. Barley is board certified in both family medicine and primary care sports medicine.

A lifelong athlete, Dr. Barley's experience playing Division I football inspired him to care for athletes as a sports medicine physician. His extensive experience in this area has resulted in a high level of familiarity with the health care concerns of the local population.

Passionate about preventative medicine, exercise and a holistic team approach to medical care, Dr. Barley specializes in concussion diagnosis and management, diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound-guided injections and on-field sports coverage.

Originally from western Pennsylvania, Dr. Barley enjoys golf, traveling and cooking. He and his wife Madelyn have two young sons, Colton and Calvin.
