John F. Sloboda, MD

Dr. Sloboda earned his medical degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland. He completed an orthopedic surgery residency at Madigan Army Medical Center at Fort Lewis in Tacoma, Washington, and a total joint fellowship with Carilion Clinic in affiliation with Virginia Tech School of Medicine.

As a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, Dr. Sloboda's military career took him to Germany as a primary care physician and on deployment to a Combat Support Hospital in Iraq, as well as Fort Drum, New York where he served as Chief of the Orthopedic Department and Musculoskeletal Center at Guthrie Army Health Clinic. He is board certified in Orthopaedic Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Dr. Sloboda's extensive experience and specialized training enables him to provide an orthopedic surgery practice specifically focused on total joint replacement, including minimally invasive direct anterior, total hip replacement and total hip/knee revision. Patients in need of total knee/hip joint replacement will find that his level of skill, knowledge and familiarity with these procedures is superb. Dr. Sloboda also specializes in hip preservation with procedures such as hip arthroscopy, pelvic osteotomy (PAO) and surgical hip dislocation. He is highly experienced in trauma and sports medicine.

Dr. Sloboda and his wife Lisa were attracted to the Tidewater area for its proximity to water, ample cultural and entertainment opportunities, and family in the area. Family time is very important to Dr. Sloboda, and he also enjoys using his free time for exercise, reading and travel.
