Hugh M. Bryan III, MD
Dr. Bryan graduated from the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the Letterman Army Medical Center. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He is a former president of the MidTidewater Medical Society and a former president of the Medical Society of Virginia. He received the Virginia Orthopaedic Society Career Award in 2013.
Dr. Bryan specializes in knee replacement surgery. He was the first surgeon in Virginia to use MRI-designed patient specific guides for knee replacement. He also has special interests in sports medicine, knee and shoulder arthroscopy and a wide variety of hand surgery.
After the completion of the American College of Sports Medicine’s Team Physician course, Dr Bryan served as the team physician at the Olympic Training Center in Lake Placid, New York in 2000. He is the team physician for Gloucester and Mathews high schools and for Christchurch School. He was elected to the Gloucester High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2011 as a result of his service as team physician.
Dr. Bryan enjoys the uniqueness of orthopedic surgery. With more than two decades of experience in Gloucester, he enjoys treating patients of all ages, and he enjoys the personalized care that a small town orthopedic practice offers.
