Antonio “Tony” Brooks, LNHA, is Administrator at Sanders, leading a team of dedicated professionals who provide world-class nursing care, therapy and living services to the retirement community’s residents. Tony’s health care career began after serving four years in the U.S. Army as a technical engineer specialist, when he started working as a Housekeeping Director in a nursing facility and quickly discovered he had a special gift for working with older adults. Prior to joining Sanders, the Doswell, Va. native served as a long-term care administrator at nearby Riverside Convalescent Center – Saluda. Tony studied International Health, attending Randolph-Macon College and Trident University, where he earned his graduate degree.
Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Gregg Shivers, M.D., is Medical Director for Sanders and specializes in geriatric syndromes, pain management, and end-of-life care. Dr. Shivers attended medical school at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed his residency at Hennepin Healthcare (formerly Hennepin County Medical Center) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dr. Shivers provides hospice and palliative care consults to primary care physicians and hospitalists and engages as a key partner in managing the unique care needs of patients with complex illnesses and chronic conditions.
Director of Nursing
Renee McKeel, RN, is Director of Nursing at Sanders where she ensures that patients receive safe, high-quality care in an environment that follows all regulations, standards and industry best practices. McKeel is no stranger to Riverside, having worked at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital as an LPN in the 1990s before transferring to Riverside Regional Medical Center. She enjoys working in the Lifelong Health setting because it enables her to give back, make a difference and still able to use her nursing skills to care for people at an important time of their life. McKeel is originally from West Point and currently resides in Williamsburg.
Director of Food Services
As Director of Food Services at Sanders, Marvin Green appreciates that everyone loves to eat. The Johnson & Wales University graduate studied general culinary arts, learning all aspects of food service. Green started at Riverside in 2014, serving as an operations manager for the Warwick Forest retirement community for two years before joining the Sanders team in his current role. Taking advantage of Sanders’ small size and sense of community, Green enjoys incorporating residents’ input into his team’s menu selection – ultimately making them feel like they are home. Prior to entering the health care field, Green served 31 years in the U.S. Army.
Director of Marketing
Kelly Marderosian is Director of Marketing for Sanders, where she works to further strengthen the bond between the award-winning facility and the local community. The lifelong Gloucester resident started at Sanders in 2016 and is no stranger to Riverside, having first joined the health system team in 2007. In her current role, Marderosian enjoys building relationships with older adults and their families, and also participating in doctor visits to help raise awareness of the valuable services and amenities Sanders offers. Marderosian earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication at Old Dominion University.
