Making Family – and Patients – Number 1

In Susanna Jones' personal life, family is number one.

"That's what makes it so easy working at Riverside because we treat these patients as they are our families," said Jones.

In fact, that welcoming, loving feeling permeates every corner of the Riverside Tappahannock Hospital where Jones serves as a Registered Nurse.

"When you walk in the door you are greeted with a smile," Jones said. "You are greeted with good morning. You are greeted with good evening. Not one person passes by without saying hello. That is a big deal to me."

Having the support of a team is also a big deal to Jones.

Jones started at Riverside as a certified nursing assistant (CNA).

"I quickly developed a wonderful relationship with all the doctors and the nurses and the patients as well," Jones said.

Thanks to the support of Riverside, Jones expanded her education and training, ultimately becoming a Registered Nurse.

It all makes for a rewarding career at a workplace where employee skill and satisfaction is so important –playing a key role in the patient experience.

"You can definitely tell here that everyone is happy."
